Waist

Silicon, steel plate, water, salt

2.2m*1.4m*0.15m 2022

This work examines the tension between political trauma and somatic resistance within a specific cultural context. Under the weight of systemic displacement, the body becomes the site of wounding and the vehicle for reclaiming sovereignty.

The project synthesizes the discipline of dance with the grounding properties of water and salt. It specifically draws on the precise, localized control of the tribal fusion waist. By materializing a feminine torso integrated with fluid mechanics, the installation explores new mechanisms of psychological re-centering. Micro-physical control and natural elements work together to transform an anatomy of pain into a resilient, self-contained sanctuary.
